ipad2

The ipad2 is arriving to stores on March 11. It is a lot faster than the previous generation, a lot lighter, and it has two cameras built-in—one in the front for video-conference and one for high definition video and photos on the back.

Additional Information is given below:

The hardware

Contrary to the rumors, the new iPad 2 has been improved a lot technologically. Faster processor, faster graphics, HDMI Full HD output, the 720p HD camera on the back, the frontal VGA camera... it will make a differnce.

Advantages
  • Dual-core 1GHz A5 processor, which is "up to two times faster" than the previous version.
  • The graphics have been improved too. The GPU goes at nine times the speed as before.
  • They claim that the 25-watt battery's life is 10 hours "on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music". They also claim one month stand-by time.
  • Built-in cameras for photos and video: One for frontal FaceTime videoconferencing and Photobooth (VGA resolution) and one on the back with 720p HD video capability.
  • It also has a built-in gyroscope, like the iPhone 4.
  • The cameras support the same exposure and focus control as the iPhones: Just tap where you want to focus for video and stills photography.
  • Same low power consumption as the A4.
  • HDMI mirrored video output at 1080p Full HD (the Apple Digital AV Adapter cable costs $39).
Disadvantages
  • The only thing that remains the same is the 9.7-inch 1024 x 768-pixel IPS display. We were all looking to a higher pixel density, but that will have to wait till the next generation.
  • For those who were expecting Thunderbolt support, they will have to wait for a future generation (if it ever comes).
  • The Wi-Fi model still lacks a GPS, using Wi-Fi location services.
When and how much?

The new iPad will come on March 11 to the US, and the 3G model will be available on both AT&T and Verizon networks. Internationally, the intro date will be March 25 in 26 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and UK.
The prices will remain the same across the line. The Wi-Fi model will come for $499, $599, and $699 for the 16, 32 and 64GB models. The 3G takes that to $629, $729, and $829.

Final Words:
  • This thing is insanely fast. We're not joking -- it's blazingly fast. Everything the iPad 2 does feels like it's on turbo. We're uploading a video of the some evidence of this, you'll be appropriately stunned.
  • The design feels great in your hands. Sleek, super thin -- much nicer to hold than the previous version. Definitely has more of a magazine than book feel. Everything is tight and solid. It is pretty amazing how thin they've gotten the device.
  • Even software made for the first generation device feels better here. Safari is definitely sped up. Games looked great on-screen, though obviously there are no updates to the resolution of screen technology here.
  • This is an evolutionary step, but we definitely don't feel like it's lacking for features. People are going to gobble these up when they see the new apps.
